Qi Gong Classes
There’s a Chinese saying: “an experienced doctor treats before the disease occurs, an inexperienced one treats after the disease occurs.” Liang Gong has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine, and incorporates many elements found in other disciplines, such as Yoga, Qi Gong, Pilates and Tai Chi. It’s easy to do, and stretches and tones the body in a very simple way.

About Liang Gong

Liang Gong is a form of Qi Gong widely practiced in China and around the world. It is simple, easy to perform, and requires very little in the way of equipment or space. It is highly valued for its capacity to help almost anyone acquire health and a sense of well-being.

The Flow of Qi
Liang Gong is based on the Tai Chi and Qi Gong principles of qi flow and the opening of acupuncture channels and meridians. The form’s signature distinction is the technique of tightening and releasing muscles in coordination with holding and releasing of breath.  This pushes the qi energy through blockages throughout the body.

About the Form
The Liang Gong form, three sets of 18 movements, was created and developed in China by Dr. Zhuang Yuan Ming.

The exercises in the first set prevent and relieve pain in the neck, shoulders, back, hips, knees and feet.

Those in the second set strengthen joints, invigorate connective tissue, stretch tendons, and stimulate the internal organs.

The final set of 18 movements work with the breathing, and show how to draw qi into ourselves out of the atmosphere around us.
